Been aware of Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world, been unaware of Bali been a Hindu majority javanese island in Indonesia is a surprise that is more sweet than the sugar for Hindus like me from India!!!

There been no symptoms of 200 years of Dutch rule in this Bali, instead it makes us to think that the Dutch would have started building their houses like Balinese and started follow Balinese Hindu culture and finally went back to Dutch failing in their attempt to brainwash with their religion (Christianity) or their glorified architectural tall buildings...

Besides the religious aspects Bali can be descripted as "The Serene beauty that elopes in our eyes with artistic natural bliss, authentic sculptures, volcano, seashores and the ubiquity of traditional cultural values are been felt right through out Bali.

The beauty of the Bali portrayed in Elizabeth Gilbert's book "Eat Pray Love" which made into Hollywood movie stated Bali as that it is Eden with a swarm of asterisks.

As of my observation Bali has its own signature like that of traditional, cultural..where can there be a status of Krishna and Arjun's in the state of Kurukshetha war? Shiva, Vishu and Brahma in the form of Linga? Where can you have your food and see the live volcano, where can you see the hindu praying with their slippers? Its all in BALI

This places gives more importance for Hinduism in the form of temples, architectures, way of living...as we were surprised to hear from our English speaking guide that till now they prefer to have lunch together will all their family members, and that's the reason the schools are there only till 1 noon.Praying is considered as an important ritual in the life's of Balinese as they have Hindu temples in every house, street, clan, community.

Temples are been build to look old, unpainted grassy walls makes the place more special, statues are crafted for authenticity, wood carving are the greatest highlight of the Balinese culture.The beautiful ganesha status, wooden flute with beautiful craving of shiva and vishnu...That's the reason I was tempted to buy the lots of artifacts which was stopped by my daughters as I am been targeted with nagging sellers wherever I go...some of these sellers had a trick of showing a beautiful artifacts which looks more original and packing a look alike low quality artifacts for the same price!

Ubud meant to be the place for the scenic landscape -Paddy field wake, irrigation system which has age old technique of irrigation in the field around as shown in the photo shown below, we happen to wittness the shooting of a Hollywood movie thought there were no big stars it was interesting to see the crew working with big cameras/umberalla/script pad/recording mics...

Denpasar and kuta(this is where we stayed) are meant for western lifestyle with late night discos, dim light bars to cater the caucausian lifestyle.. the lanes are very narrow and small, thats the reason for hectic traffic jam at 2 pm mid night

"The Australian people have a great love for Indonesia, especially for the beautiful island of Bali,"

"It must be a great love, because last year, more than a half a million of us went there, despite the Australian Government's instruction not to.

To summarise it all...We had wonderful experience and ever lasting memories from Bali.

India had won the ICC (International Cricket Council) World Cup 2011!

Well Done, Team India!

World cup cricket matches happens every four years, and this is the second time India had won this World Cup after a gap of 28 years! I could vaguely remember Indian tricolor flags filled the Lord's cricket stadium when Kapil Dev's team carried the World Cup (Prudential cup) for the first time.

Been pampered as the favorite team in this World Cup series 2011, India looked very promising right from the beginning, thought the match with England went for a tie, the great win against Australia, but it was more intensified with semi final win against Pakistan, and finally the spectacular chase for 275 runs.

The finals against Srilanka, the runs needed was 275 and India started with openers Sehwag-Tendulkar who made 18 runs and lost their wickets, with the exit of master blaster Tendulkar's most of us lost interest, and thought it will an emotional drama to loss the game.

Rajnikanth was there in the stadium, partnership between the Gautam Gambhir - Virat Kohli maintained the run rate required, Dhoni has come to bat..it was the moment to be optimistic, it was time to play hard... I too never guessed that we could withstand so much pressure, but an Indian fan is never pessimistic!

I really admired Dhoni's captaincy, his batting style been tactical, consistent for chasing a score of 275 against one of the best bowlers in the world. 125 runs needed out of 121 balls....finally it was 7 runs from 11 balls..what a great way to win the match as the Captain Dhoni (91 runs Not out) made the come back of the game...He deserves to lead a winning team!

Photography is one of my hobbies, it was more aggravated when I came to Malaysia. Most interestingly my balcony views, it was a boon to have such a view, most of my friends and family members who visited us appreciated the fantastic panorama view of KL city from my balcony .

I was almost taking the photos of my balcony view everyday when I came newly to Malaysia, but after 4 years now I would still love to do it whenever time permits...

I have seen the twin tower in all the shades and shines, today in the morning I was quite surprised to see the Twin tower, I felt there was an extra gap between the two towers, the upper part of the taller tower was slightly away from the smaller tower in an appropriate manner which was not symmetric to my eyes...I checked with my other old photos and didn't find any conclusions...

Maybe it's because the causal dislocation due to wind or I am seeing this view after a long gap??!! or Is it my illusion after seeing the earthquake/aftereffects in New Zealand??!! Or it is the beginning of the end in 2012??!!

Kavalan - The story of a young bodyguard who has no job as the villain gone to America, falls in love like Gemini ganeshan and finally marries his real love.

The screenplay and the director touch gives the trick of mixing this simple story line with fights, songs, comedy, making it slow, to make climax interesting. This is the remake of mega hit movie in Malayalam"Bodyguard"

The transformation of Vijay from mass hero to lover boy gives the relaxation and that relaxation from the audience has been sensed as the success of this movie. It is good to see Vijay in love stories and relates to his old hits, mostly love stories as they are apt for his looks.

Of course the signature version of Vijay - the introduction songs with punch lines comes little bit late and punk wig songs as the solace for vijay fans to see him dancing with unusual costumes in unusual locations(Malaysia!!!), all these factors are been forced into this movie to remind the audience that the hero is not Nakul.

The way Asin speaks makes us to check the audio whether it is malayam or tamil. Chechi has lost her looks and joins with trisha et al in the list of old heroines.

The thrilling climax is the total turning point to nail the idea that it is not vijay's movie, it is the director's movie.Well done Siddique!

Overall Saviour for Vijay, after hatrick boxoffice failures of his movies and protest from the theater owners not to release his movie till he settles Rs.8 Cr for the losses. Vijay cames back with success.

Will he campaign for ADMK in the forthcoming election is the MOST question now, then that of how can Kajol and Tabu get padmashri awards!!!

The initial comedy scene mostly not digestible but what to do lets wait for few more scenes to switch off the movie, fortunately the following scenes are better and makes it watchable at least once after the seriousness of the movie been felt, the game starts when the child calls Rocket raja "Daddy"

The flashback has the strong aroma of Andhra with too much of violence, ignorance, cruelty, vengeance, bravery, which has made interesting sequenced with action comedy in the end with the replace of Rocket raja.

Karthi's presence in dual role has yield the results in making this movie a fast entertainer, with comedies, actions and comedies.

This is the remake of the telugu super hit movie

Madurai chukka varuval

Aadukalam - the story of Godfather's betrayal to his newly successful successor.

In the era of XBox, PSP, Wii game console this movie grandiosely talks about cock fighting(koli sandai), you have history to stress the importance of this game for Tamilians, narration says so with evidence in the beginning with threatening Kamal's voice(??!!)

Tokyo, London or LA cannot be the venue to shoot this movie, where else the crew can go besides Madurai for this story. Hence the movie has been taken in and around madurai to get the feel of the theme, it was a right decision.More than that they have added sourashtra dialogue in the first 30mts of the movie to bring more closeness to Madurai for me.

Dhaush has been very clever in choosing the right role for him, this movie has taken him to a big role to perform which he had done correctly, he made us to believe that the character was lively, with limited costume of lungi, and shirit.

Even in the era of Xbox, PSP, Wii game console, this movie has proved that cock fighting scenes can also bring sentation in the big screen, which gives the ultimate thrill of the game, especially the thrid time when the cock fighting against the Bangalore cock, if it is hollywood, they would have come out with video games to come up with this idea of cock fighting or Rooster booster video games in the market..where as for tamil movie goers, we have the new taste of cock fighting instead of the repeation of bull fight(jallikattu) which has been seen many times in the movies, cock fighting been first time has given more new ventures to the Tamil movie industry.

Bukit Tinggi

Post diwali celebration happened to us in Bukit tinggi, the exotic location for the people who wants to write a book.(thats how some of my colleagues described the place) Well, we didn't intend to write a book either as it's a leisure trip. Bukit tinggi is one of the must see places in kuala lumpur as it is just one hour drive from KL and also to take photos which is my HOBBY.

Located 3,500 feet above the sea, the Japanese Village has garden, tea house, spa, botanical garden..the cool breeze, tall trees, colourful landscape..it was really an interesting place for nature lovers to see the nudity of nature!

Botanical garden was with dense trees with narrow lane to walk along the nursery, we were shocked to see professional photographers with their mega zoom cameras patiently waiting for the rare birds in that dense woods, the silence of the nature was disturbed by the surround stereo effects by monkeys, bees, insects...

Flower- a flower is a flower is a flower, without going to the botanical name of it I simply love to take photos because it shows the richness in the colour/clarity/natural/variety/softness

Japanese village in Malaysia,this model japanese village had small hut house where you can see doll like girls wearing kimino, you are not allowed to take photos, you can pay RM50 for wearing it and taking photos, the hut house has stone footpath that will lead you through a beatiful garden to a waterfall, over a bridge spanning a koi pond and up to a Japanese Tea House.

Colmar tropicale has the century old Alsace charm at this French-themed resort, settled at 2,700 feet above sea-level amidst 80 acres of rainforests. This French village has picturesque surroundings with fort like domes, fountains, ponds - with white swan, black swan, golden fish, across the pond the big fort gates will lead to the cobble stone street which has many restaurants, hotels, caricature shops, fountains, pool table, video games.

Rabbit park, deer sanctuary, donkey ride, horse trails, were the next stop which we enjoyed. Rabbit park here you can buy the food for rabbits are you can personally feed them. The rabbits are quite bulky because of this.Donkeys were almost like horse, white colour, brown colour various types of donkeys...we didn't had donkey ride as its not that interesting!

My daughter fed the deer, only now I came to know that deer too likes potato chips!!!

When we reached to the end of that place to spot the horse trail, we lost the interest to ride the horse after seeing the tariff it is RM25/- for 10mts ride, moreover the horse will just walk not, for a slow walk over the horse along the walking jockey it was too childish,much better is our marina beach horse riding, wherever it goes it will come back to the original place with full speed.We pity those visitors on the horse just giggling when we saw them on the top of the horse walking slowly!

One day from 10AM to 6 PM the complete butik tinggi was enjoyed with family and friends.

“Enthiran” is loosely based on writer Sujatha’s story which was later designed in larger than life canvas by Shankar with his innovative ideas and comprehend by technical inputs, it is undeniably a sci fi movie fenced with customary commercial prototypes, to be precise it’s a masala ride blended with “state of the art” technical departments in film making.Enthiran' is a perfect blend of Indian sensibility and superior Hollywood technical wizardry

Business : On the part of business of this Rs.150 crore budget movie the collection details from the Box office says that :

Endhiran (Tamil) and its Telugu and Hindi versions combined have given the largest first weekend distributor share ever in India. As per general industry estimates the shares were 25 crore for Tamil version, 13 crore for Telugu version and 4 crore for Hindi version. The total distributor share being 42 crore. Dabangg was 30 crore approx and Three Idiots 21.75 crore approx.

The film has also the highest first weekend nett collections ever in India at 56 crore nett. Dabanng was 49 crore nett and Three Idiots 38 crore nett.

Eid holidays were celebrated with Shopping, Movies and Biriyani!!!

Shopping at Mid Valley Mega mall had multiple reasons...Global Indian festival-its a exhibition of Indian dresses, Indian arts, its the shopping and entertainment combination for Indian community in Malaysia which is been conducted yearly at Kuala Lumpur for the past 8 years.So lots of shops for dresses, sweets, paintings, wedding profile makers etc..there was Odissi dance performance too...and in between the program my kids collected gift hampers for their answers to the event questions!

Movies

Vamsam(Tamil) - Though it has the usual caste based-aruva(curved knife)-village background-revenge formula of tamil movie which has become the trend these, where as this movie shows the hero as educated, obedient, mother loving boy, who wants to avoid any sort of arm twist, ends up making a big twist when he follows in love.

I wanted to see this because of the director who got three national awards this year for his first movie Pasanga. Ofcourse the story is of revenge but in the different form and with unexpected usual stuffs, the hero of this movie is the Tamil Nadu Chief minister's grandson!

Boss engira Baskaran(Tamil) - The story is nothing but a series of comic mishap extended with funny dialogues and hillarious scenes, its about the typical small town Kumbakonam youth who is always busy but has no work...the following events tells how he wins in life and gains family respect.

Dabaggan(Hindi) - Salman's "Dabaggan" has surpassed "3idiots" collection for the first week! We ourself have to wait for another show as the show we went was Housefull ! This movie has pulled the crowd, even here in malaysia the atmosphere was terrific..this movie has been expected to have the same tempo like his "Wanted"...then came the hero the same man - Salman Khan with new packaging!!! Though this is an age old story touches the lines of Robin hood with the Mask of the Zorro background music speaking Uttar pradesh slang Hindi! This story is about the police who steals the money from the robbers and gives it to others, in that way he meets his love interest, parents sentiment, sibling rivalry and finally revenge. What else do you expect for a hindi masala movie...item number??!! yes you got it Zandu Palmfrom the producer's wife.!!!
I liked Salman's comedy when he dances and asks for the peppy ring tone to forward in between the fights, the melodious "Tere Mast Mast Do Nain" is really good...but there seems to be no fast track songs to match with the speedy movie.

Biriyani

This Eid we tasted three different kinds of Biriyani from our friends...though they were all Biriyani, it differed in terms of taste as it had the Malaysian taste, Indian taste and the mix of both...to sum up all that is the big....yyyUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuPppp!

India has Newspapers in 87 languages. Radio station in 71 languages and Films in 15 languages..but when it comes to TV channels, there is nothing new that all the national music channels are dominated with "Hindi" as you can see from the new design of our currency to the MTV/Channel V which has only Hindi songs/movie trailers/pop songs.

To watch English music videos in national TV??!! even in MTV/Channel V you have to be awake at midnight to watch English music videos...or else you need to subscribe for VH1 which was free before 3 years, now recently Yo music channel (which is free & English I believe) so I could hard see any English music videos, rationed by SS Music in between other south Indian songs...

As I was desperate to update on the Hindi pop albums..I watched B4U music and 9XM TV channel, nothing so catchy as it has only Hindi movie trailers, usual Punjabi pop album and a bit of latest Hindi songs disturbed by the ugly looking tiger/fox cartoon in the 9XM channel which was awkward with its comments/dance movements, it was thought to be very funny and creativity, sad it couldn't...

Hindi pop songs was my most favorite with Bally sagoo, Sukhbir, Daler mehndi, Euphoria, Falguni patek, till Abhijeet sawant - Lafzon mein which had Tamana for the first time(who is very famous tamil actress now)..but when I checked for the new pop songs..it was a total disappointment not to see any good pop songs during my 3 weeks stay!

There is a new channel for foreign movies, more channels from NDTV- and interestingly NDTV Hindu, I think its the only Hindu channel in the whole world!

Among the tamil TV channels Vijay TV has the best viewership from all the relatives we visited, next comes Zee Tamil and rest all for masala entertainers..even their rating of new movies has lost its credibility as they need to be loyal to their management, who are promoting/producing the movies so obviously their own movies comes first in their TV rating though its real rating will be some where below 7...

Well, I love Indian advertisements, it has the best creativity in the world, on that updations I was quite happy to see some good advertisements like the Nimbu ad, Asin Miranda ad, etc...as it was the time for World Tamil conference in coimbatore, the theme song was so popular or made to be popular as it was continuesly telecasted for every 10 minutes, now everybody likes that song..even my kids like that AR.Rehman song.

Finally, compared to my last visit to Chennai, this time I would say Chennai with its better road, better buses, more beautification in the main areas, more shopping malls and with more multiplex! with future plans of metro rail service, more malls, more industrialization... I would definitely say that Chennai is developing as India is developing.

Local transportation in chennai are called as Madras transportation corporation (MTC) is renowned for its magnificent service, foot board travelling ie., you stand on the steps of the bus when it is moving, conductors giving saliva stricken tickets by tearing/punching with their fingers...but now with the beautification of MTC we can see colorful buses like white line, orange line, deluxe service, point to point, new vestibule buses with LCD, Tata Marcopolo (not the liquor please!!) buses, Volvo buses plying throughout the city, but its quite pathetic that some of the buses are full of dust, poorly maintained, roaring like strepsils needed lion, rain water enters inside the bus and makes the seats really cool !!! The most interesting thing is that all the bus conductors are equipped with a new hand held ticketing machines!No more tearing !!!No foot board!!!Overall the MTC has improved from the past and compared to other states but it needs to be maintained properly..that's the point!!!

Gone are the days of Alsa mall,Prince plaza it's all been renewed to names like Amba Skywalk, City center, Express avenue mall with its multiplex, IMAX, KFCs, McDs...etc

One sunday evening, as we ventured into the newly built Amba skywalk which is quite famous for been the shooting spot for tamil movies these days, heavy traffic right from the entrance of Nelson Manickam road where it is located, parking for the shopping mall was full and the three security men don't know what to do for the lined up cars waiting in the entrance, interrupted by the autos dropping there passengers. As we entered into the mall, we felt that this place is very small for the amount of crowd it had on that day, when we decided to start from the basement we experienced the floor was like the crowd in Tirmala Tirupati Devastanam, jam packed in all the sections.Long queue in the billing section too...then came to the ground floor where you can spot KFC and McDonald, been in malaysia where you can spot KFC at every hook and corner but no vegetarian dishes, quite thrilled to see the vegetarian menus, shocked to see mami's in the pub chairs inside KFC(look at the photo) and enjoying the burgers!!!

First lets start with the Newspaper

The Hindu newspaper is my favorite, not because I am a Hindu, but because it had more pages compared to other newspaper available at that time to validate the money saved on the newspaper, and also the quality of the news, pictures, crossword, and my favorite writer S.Muthiah-Historian who writes interesting things about Chennai every monday..the habit of reading newspaper started from this newspaper for me......so when I was there in chennai last month after 4 years in malaysia...I got a fresh copy of the Hindu newspaper on that Saturday to check my favorite spots for reading, it does has the magic still!!!

Well I was there in chennai when The Deccan Herald came to capture the newspaper market with the Michael porter's strategy! Which was quite successful for some time...but now, I saw another potential competitor - The Times of India

I do like The Times of India newspaper very much when I was in mumbai for 2 years!!! The cartoon from R.K.Narayan's(my favorite writer) brother R.K.Lakshman's was my favorite! Glossy Page 3 articles, overseas jobs/jobs on Wednesday, sporting encounter on Saturdays which has the great collection of interesting phrases like.."You may be someone to the world, but for me you are the world" I had the collections of sporting encounter and many interesting articles...I read Mid day too when I traveled from Andheri to CST with my vada pav!

But I was really thrilled to see the Times of India having Karuna's interview for his latest tamil movie, and the rating of the tamil movies with box office collection!!!I am surprised and thrilled to see this...this reminds me of famous writer Sujatha who predicted that in near future we can expect local tamil magazine like Kumudam can be taken over by Times magazine and you can read "Thillalangadi" tamil movie review in Times' Kumudam magazine!!!

Spain has won the Football World Cup!

I didn't watched the match as the timing was too odd for me to watch it..despite the chances to watch it on big screen in Merdeka square...the only best thing I did was to check the match result in CNN at 6 AM next day morning.

Right from the moment Argentina has lost the match, right from the moment Brazil lost the match I had no interest in watching the football matches as I dont know any players in the Spain and Netherland team.

Moreover as a hard core cricket fan, football is just another sport for me...it could be really funny if you see all the players in the football game running from one goal post to another for 90 minutes and chase the ball, finally when they get the ball they fail to appreciate it but kicks it again!!! So SAD!!!!

Football is a simple game, no big techniques to learn like square drive, off drive, leg cutter, slips, or do they need accessories like bat, stems, pitch??!!...this is purely my understanding, of course you can complicate the simple game and simplify the complicated game!

Anyway there came an end to the Waka Waka festival and made the German Paul-the Octopus famous predictor of the matches.

Two days to go for the World cup(Football), and Three days to go for my India (Chennai) trip.

World cup happens every 4 years and I am going to my home town after 4year(roughly) not to watch football matches but to meet my relatives and friends.Its always special when things happen for every 4 years.

And its more exciting to see the places, my house, meet parents, relatives, chit chat with friends, visit temples, eat all your favorite foods, check all your secret diaries..etc in the right place, besides that, treated royally at In-laws house and at my parents house...!!! (is it too much??!!..ok Insha allah..)

Ok, now to Football, I started watching football because of Maradona, he had the magic of making the game a cheering experience even for a simple guy like me...and won the world cup 1986 against England.I honored him with a space in my study room with his poster along with Sylvester stallone.

Who's going to win World Cup 2010? I wish Argentina, definitely because of Maradona again, been the coach of the team and been the moral booster, he can surely bring back the World Cup.

When somebody asked Maradona "what he will do if his Argentina team won the world cup 2010?"

He said " He will run naked in the streets"

Now, I feel Argentina should not win the World cup, who wants to see him naked??!!!

This posting is not about the movie "How to train your Dragon"

Here in this story, its not a normal village...Pest in this village are not Dragons, Elephants, Tigers, or not even rats or cats its Cockroaches!!!

Yes cockroaches, big, large, XXL, XXXL sizes...cockroaches attack the foods of the villagers, and take away like parcel....the villagers wonder where these cockroaches are taking away their foods?? and want to discover the secret mountain...as a result every now and then they have to wage a war against these beast cockroaches...!!!

Our hero (small kid) called Pickup, he been the son of the community head does not have the heart to fight and kill the cockroaches!!! In the fight one night, Pickup happen to shoot down one of the most terrifying flying cockroach called "Night grinder" which is not believed by anybody in his community.More worried Pickup tries to prove that and finds the wounded cockroach in the nearby woods, he was shocked to see the giant flying cockroach with broken wings and its struggle to fly.Being a junior blacksmith himself he designs the wing for the cockroach and befriend the Night grinder!!! What a touching story!!! Pickup picks up some food for nigh grinder and feeds it, which in turn gives half of that to Pick up!

Meanwhile Pickup was selected to the training camp along with the other kids to learn the skills of attacking the different types of cockroaches, white, small, big, round, lengthy, XXL, XXXL.etc..Pickup excels in all the test which annoys the smart girl in the training camp and she wants to know the secret of Pickup, so she follows him and detects the secret as Pickup learns most of the cockroach handling skills from Night grinder which he had named it as Footless - like cockroaches want more stinky, dirty joints, for its happiness. Pickup get all the clues from Night grinder....

Once winning all the stages in the training camp...there comes the final stage of killing the cockroach of which Pickup is not happy about, he takes this as a chance to tell to the world that killing the cockroaches is the solution instead we should learn to befriend them!!!

What an eye opener!!!

Once Pickup was having a jolly ride on the Night grinder as shown in the photo along with his girl friend, on the sky way they see more cockroaches along the flying zone with them..which worries these kids..by following all these cockroaches..they reach to the secret mountain..yes Pickup has detected the secret mountain..where all the foods of the villagers been given to the GIANT cockroach(The villain) which enslaves all the innocent cockroaches to brings food for it...one small innocent cockroach bring very little food..as a punishment the GIANT cockroach just swallows the innocent cockroach along with the little food...that's the lesson for all the other cockroaches!

Here comes the climax...as the story ends when Pickup, Nigh grinders and the Kids with the help of villagers kills the GIANT cockroach and makes all the cockroach user friendly to the village!!!

Penang - one of the most memorable trip we had in our stay here in malaysia. My second daughter's first time in flight, though it was only 30mts from KL to penang she didn't felt any difference in the travel, only problem is with the tight seat belt during landing and take off...which was disturbing her drawing in the airasia magazine...

Oldest Buddhist temples, Hindu temples and beaches were on the agenda which almost felt like a pilgrimage..how ever the thrilling Paragliding, delicious street food, very kind Chinese people made our stay more interesting.

Year 2008, my parents went back to India after spending a year with us here as they enjoyed visiting places like Langkawi, Singapore and many interesting places here in malaysia...

Year 2009 my in-laws visited us and my brother in law did his one month project for his MBA here, also my elder sister's family visited us for couple of months all this made us to feel that we are not missing Chennai for the past 3 years.

Roland Emmerich, german film director famous for his mass distraction movies like "The Independence day" who made us to believe that Aliens are coming and Earth Changes will have dire consequences "The Day After Tomorrow" continuing theme of Emmerich's disaster trilogy 2012 is with thrilling visual effects with the pinch of science to his fictitious story.

Movie starts in India, showing the great discoveries that leads to conclusion of the forthcoming destruction to the entire world, with that its also about a failed science fiction writer and limousine driver, who has to save his family from the devastation.Their frantic escape through the crumbling streets of LA, first by car, then by plane, is absolutely astounding. The levels of stunt coordination and lavish Computer Graphics work on display are certainly the most impressive I have ever seen.

Another continuing theme of Emmerich's disaster trilogy is American president,in Independence Day had Bill Clinton-alike and the thinly veiled Dick Cheney attack in The Day After Tomorrow, it comes as no great surprise that in the Obama era he has cast a black man as the president. Step forward Danny Glover, with Thandie Newton (the one who acted as Will smith's wife in Pursuit of happiness) as his daughter.

The funniest part of the story is the Chinese build the big ship made in china(no grantee product) as the last resort for all the rich, political and powerful people in the earth!!!

KL tower International BASE jump-Oct 09

Jumping is child's play, my kids jump in the bed every time for fun, the more you scold them the more they jump...thats Ok...what shocked me last weekend was that people jumping from taller places, not from the bench or from the walls but from KL tower which is 1,381 ft, of course with parachute its quite thrilling to see people jump from such a height, free fall...literally dive from such a height and been fallen almost half way still the parachute is not opening...within a fraction of seconds just like a sudden jerk it blows up to wide open to save the life!!!

When this happens in my balcony I have taken some photos and sharing it here...

It was happening through out the day and people falling are also controlling their landing to one particular place...For more details on Jumping check this website

Pasar malam (Evening bazaar / sandey in tamil) is a common practise here in malaysia...every area will have any one day in a week to have Pasar (Bazaar) malam(Evening)...in my place(KL) it will be on every saturday evening where we will just stroll around for something to eat/drink/buy certain things will be quite cheap in Pasar malam...same thing here in Cameron Highland the nearby town called Brinchang, visited the Pasar malam for its unique Fried potatoes, Fried Ice cream ( hot..hot ice cream again in Strawberry flavour), corn, honey, balloon for my kids etc...soon heavy rain made us to return to our apartment as quickly as possible...

Bee Museum, here we have seen various types of Bees,the working pattern of bee, its way of storing the honey, the Queen Bee...another interesting place where they gave us the sample of different kinds of honey...rubber tree honey, palm tree honey...etc..for me everything tasted similar after tasting five different varieties of honey... finally bought a bottle of Honey!!!

Sam Poh Buddhist Temple, the moment you enter this temple...you feel like in the sholin temple movies...Master, teach me Kung fu with the background music of flute, violin and bells.. its quite a different place to see, the workshipping style, the big golden Gods and Goddess,its location and its peaceful atmosphere...though this temple sounds like "Sam bho Mahadeva" we can definitely identify the roots of Buddhism with Hinduism..as we can identify our Hindu gods and goddess here in this temple...check out these photos

I know Cameron Diaz...I have seen her in many movies...but now I also know Cameron Highland...its a hill station...its just 5hrs drive from Kuala Lumpur. Experienced lovely holidays during the Hari Raya (Ramzan) in this small town called tanah rata...We stayed in Carnation park apartment where we have seen many cars, so we concluded that’s the reason behind the CARnation park apartment.

Strawberry was tasted in the Ice cream flavor, but now I have witnessed the strawberry farm, taken it directly from the plant, tasted it, the real taste of strawberry milk shakes and ice cream!!! There can’t be another real and tasty milk shakes and ice cream other than this one in Raju’s strawberry farm..they were very kind enough to quench our anxiety by asking us to taste the different types of strawberries…and Jam...also gave some free fresh /dry strawberries… but the Jam is very sour!!!Mr.Raju was himself there to show us the strawberry(photo)

BOH tea factory, BOH tea is one the leading brands in Malaysia…something like our Lipton/Taj Mahal/Kannan Devan…this visit is worth to see the modern machines for plugging the tea leaves..Using small planes to throw the fertilizers…the variety in tea…strawberry flavor, mint flavor, Teacino..Ice cold, hot..more excotic green mountains like our Ooty...here I am sharing the video in BOH tea factory where the tea leaves been sent inside the factory !!!

Butterfly park… only here in this butterfly park..the butterflies will come and sit on your hands without you chasing them…you can just carry the butterfly in your hands and place them wherever you want..on your head, shoulder…anywhere you like..the butterflies here will just obey you.. until the thought strikes you whether these are real butterfly or not??!!

Wrong Identify Friend or Foe (IFF) coding by the French Airline's Airbus 343 aircraft which was on it way from Paris to Bangkok and was entering India after flying over Lahore in Pakistan.

"Taking prompt action after our radars detected an unknown aircraft over our territory, we scrambled two of our MiG 29 air defence fighter jets from Adampur air base to intercept the aircraft at around 0610 hours in the morning, as it had switched on a wrong IFF code," IAF officials said in New Delhi.

"The mission was aborted soon after the fighters took off as the French aircraft had switched over to the right codes," they added. IFF codes are meant to help the ground-based radars to automatically differentiate between friendly and enemy aircraft.

When we have guest from India, we use to take them to all the must see places in Malaysia like KLCC Twin tower, KL Tower, Genting highlands, Malacca, Midvalley megamall etc...Been to Malaysia and not been to Singapore is something very odd...and vice versa.as it is only 5hours bus travel from Kuala lumpur to Singapore.

Recently, Singapore high commission in Malaysia has stopped accepting application for its visa processing as its been given private travel agencies to process it...of course with an extra fee.

Just wondered how the application fee for the Singapore visa has soared for the past 3years in my personal experience here Malaysia...

Fee in 2006 - RM50/-per person

Fee in 2008 - RM71/-per person

Fee in 2009 - RM105/-per person

The increase in the last one year is shocking!!!

Though, I don’t have any answers for why India has not joined in ASEAN to avoid these visa fee/trade/jobs between the its member (Asian) countries...something like that of European Union, which has the benefits of visa free travel, trade, jobs within its member countries.

Right from my teenage I have never missed any of Arnold Schwarzenegger movies even though I am a hard core fan of Sylvester Stallone.

I always wanted Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Terminator movies, but what to do..being a Governor,working hard to become the next President of USA after Obama,he cant act in movies these days.He carried a unique style for himself with his rough face,strong muscles, the way he carried the gun and the way he murmured "Hastava vista baby"

That makes me to say that, when you see Terminator movies without Arnold, its like you are watching "Baywatch" in marina beach inbetween the sunal(peanut) sellers, fish fries and the tightened ballon targets!!! I mean to say the missing pleasure of seeing it fresh...clean...shinny...etc...

Terminator: Salvation as a Terminator film, it doesn't really work - as a blockbuster film, it's okay with plenty of things exploding in widescreen and plenty of action sequences and some of the scenes reminds Will smith's I Am legend" movie which has the radio announcement for the survivors and the tactics used to kill the machines...

To brief the story

It's 2018 - the world's been annihilated as Skynet continues its purge against the human race.

In this post apocalyptic world, John Connor (Christian Bale) is continuing to lead the resistance - which is growing ever more desperate and despondent as the battles continue to rage.

But Skynet decides the way to decisively win the war against Connor is to target his father Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin).

So Connor races against time to save his father and the future.

At the same time, Kyle Reese's befriended by a death row inmate (Sam Worthington) from 2003 who finds himself mysteriously in the future and desperate to find some answers to who and what he is.

Though they tried to impress me by bring back Aronald (animated i suppose..) in a scene, even before I could get sit straight from my seat,he has gone!!!There isnt much action in the climax only the indication of another Terminator movie to follow!!!

More than this movie I was quite scared with the trailers of three new movies...Transformer, GIJOE, 2012..all the movies had scenes of demolishing, buildings, Pyramids, towers, cars...how beautifully the ellifel tower breaks into to pieces, London bridge been rolled like an old cricket mat, Big ben tower been smashed to break in slow motion...OMG!!! Finally the 2012..ultimate threat...3yrs to go is worth worrying...

I adore the stories of Late writer Sujatha (Rangarajan) whom I have met and spoken in person when I was in chennai, when a movie been taken from his story, I wouldnt get the pleasure like that of reading his stories ...this movie is based on Sujatha’s novel “pirivom santhipom” the innocent looking hero…suits well for the character..there is of course some changes / updating / correction from the original storyline, like that of the recent shooting in the University by a Korean students in US been shown in this movie…the director has tried his best to have a good sync with the original but at time it was quite tough to maintain it…not a total dissatisfaction either…

I read the story when I travelling in Navajeevan express from chennai to ahmedabad (it was 34hrs travel) I was totally glued to that novel till I got down from the train I was reading again and again...otherwise there was nothing entertaining for me in that 34hrs slow journey to my sister’s place.

Before some months

I wont enjoy sales call in my handphone, but when you talk english, the Indian ascent english(more specifically north indian ascent) I was totally motivated!!!

Sales girl on the phone: Sir, How often you call to India sir...how much you pay for one minute sir...our international call card is very guud sir. Its basically for NRIs. Its verrry cheap sir...
Sir, if you are interested I will give it to my manager who can guide you for the payment sir...

I liked the deal...it will be less than 30cents!!! what a fabulous offer...so I asked how can I pay for the card??!!! for which I was asked about the visa card/bank card number!!!

Now

I got a call from my bank saying that they are blocking my bank card as it has been traced by some illegal syndicates (the only syndicate I know is the indian Syndicate bank) and now I have visit the bank to collect my new ATM card.Beware of such calls and dont give your card numbers....

Placing is a special skill in batting (cricket)...for which I am very famous in the street / school cricket as well as in the home pitch ie. inside the home itself.....I will always place the ball between the fielders!!! at times between the slips and hips of the passersby...!!!

I love the shots which makes all the fielders to stand still and the ball going to the boundary line...

Being in Malaysia and watching the Cricket matches is Luxury!!!(beacuse of the astro cable connection charges!) in the world of Football, they all know the cricket as some insect!!!

But coming to the point of Placing...when you misplace certain thing or re-arrange things in your house, it become highly notable...last week we had our new shoe rack which was kept inside our house for a long time was decide to keep outside...as a result of this. We could see our neighbor has his shoe rack same like ours...at times in a hurry I search for my shoes in my neighbor’s shoe rack!!! ..See how innocent I am ...but actually couldn’t get much better shoes there in it is another sad story!!!

Whether misplacing or taking a new place away from the origin is fashionable or the need of the hour...I wonder the misplacing of these things....

8x10 Tasveer

It was Wednesday & It was at Capsquare to see the latest tamil movie "Ayan" (which is suppose to be making the box office...Ayan (Iron) box office) but there was no tamil movie there so happen to select the 8x10 Tasveer with the only promising tag I was interested, that is the director Nagesh Kukunoor whose Hyderabad Blue is still in my best movies list.

Though the movie "8 x 10 Tasveer" gave enough space for my younger daughter to move around the whole theatre freely without any trouble...but the few people amoung us in the theatre (most of them are chinese and malays) who watched the movie was really tested our patience as I found the killer right from the fourth scene itself..but I havent guessed that Akshay kumar has double role in this movie...that was really a thriller.

The hero of this film has a mystique ability to gaze at photographs and visualize immediate happenings after the picture was clicked...

The film begins well. Though slow paced you understand it is intentional and go along the flow. The premise of the film and the setting keeps getting really interesting and also some superbly shot sequences keep you on the edge. It is almost like watching a hollywood suspense thriller directed by M.Night Shyamalan.But the whole premise falters during the last 30 minutes in what appears like a never ending climax.

Kukunoor shows tremendous improvement as a technician and has done just the perfect casting for all the parts.But the story line is quite confusing to categorize it as a thriller or a X file material! Overall it was just OK!!!

Educationing the people about AIDS is a tought job, especially when they are uneducated..it reminds me of a joke in a tamil movie where a comedian(Vivek) asks a poor uneducated person why he has seven children though he say that he uses condoms, for that the poor man says that he uses the condoms as prescribed by the doctor by inserting it in his finger!!!

This Story is about a man who once upon a time was selling "Wada-Pav" by the roadside. He was illiterate, so he never read newspapers.

He was hard of hearing, so he never listened to the radio. His eyes were weak, so he never watched television.

But enthusiastically, he sold lots of "Wada-pavs". He was smart enough to offer some attractive schemes to increase his sales.

His sales and profit went up..

He ordered more a more raw material and buns and use to sale more. He recruited few more supporting staff to serve more customers.

He started offering home deliveries. Eventually he got himself a bigger and better stove. As his business was growing, the son, who had recently graduated from College, joined his father.

Then something strange happened.

The son asked, "Dad, aren't you aware of the great recession that is coming our way?" The father replied, "No, but tell me about it." The son said, "The international situation is terrible..

The domestic situation is even worse.

We should be prepared for the coming bad times." The man thought that since his son had been to college, read the papers, listened to the radio and watched TV.

He ought to know and his advice should not be taken lightly.

So the next day onwards, the father cut down his raw material order and buns, took down the colourful signboard, removed all the special schemes he was offering to the customers and was no longer as enthusiastic.

He reduced his staff strength by giving layoffs. Very soon, fewer and fewer people bothered to stop at his "Wada-Pav" stand. And his sales started coming down rapidly, same is the profit.

The father said to his son, "Son, you were right".

"We are in the middle of a recession and crisis. I am glad you warned me ahead of time."

Moral of The Story: It's all in your MIND! And we actually FUEL this recession much more than we think we do!!!!!!!!!!

AR.Rahman has won two oscar awards today, he has highlighted the indian skills abroad..he has became the only Indian to get two Oscars...all Indians celebrated as Rahman bagged the Oscars for best original score in Slumdog Millionaire and its theme song Jai Ho.

When he went to Bollywood from tamil movies he bridged the gap between North and South India...now with the efforts to bridge the gap between the East and West he has been awarded with two OSCARS!!!

Or if you want to pay your tributes to the Greek soldier Pheidippides as he ran from a battlefield at Marathon, Greece, to Athens in 490 B.C (Not because he lost in the war!!!)

The legend states that he was sent from the town of Marathon to Athens to announce that the Persians had been defeated in the Battle of Marathon. It is said that he ran the entire distance without stopping and burst into the assembly, exclaiming "Νενικήκαμεν" (Nenikékamen, 'We have won.') before collapsing and dying.

Runnings are good for health...but see what happened to our poor Greek soldier!!!

I really have doubts why Marathon are conducted. No awareness was created just because of Marathon for me so far...but at the same time I dont want to make fun of them either...

We attended a birthday party last weekend, it was my daughter's class mate as well as our family friend's daughter birthday party.

We didn’t expected it to be totally kids party as we had our daughter's birthday with all our friends and families with few of my daughter's friends...but this birthday party was totally a kids party and we were the only elders (besides the birthday girl's parents/organisers) to be there to witness the fun the kids where having...they organized some games but to organize such events are much tougher than to organize events like Oscar/MTV awards/Filmfare awards...to form a queue with these kids was like trying to mount the marbles vertically...they where pushing... giggling... one small fellow with his wooden gun hitting another small kid for his balloon...the queue broken by a small car which was chased by two small kids who were much faster than the car itself...seriously sitting pretty small girl, another small girl applying nail polish silently and seriously...after the game, there came the cake cutting event...even before singing the birthday song the cake was tasted from the corners, and the birthday girl started cutting it...foods and drinks spilled all over the floors...balance in their plates and some kids wanting more, some wasting...then its time for their parents to pick them up, time for RETURN GIFT, which has become a customary for todays birthday parties...the highlight of this birthday party was the return gift. The return gift is Orchid plant...every child took home happily with a big smile in their face and shouting I got the return gift!!!

We got Orchid plant with pink colour flowers as our return gift. It was a great gift and a brilliant idea compared to the pencil,eraser, sharpner sort of return gifts...with this sort of kids party we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend!!!

Out of the 40 finalists in the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search 2009 competition, eight are desis (many seem to be South Indians).

Its a great pleasure for us to highlight the fact that if given chance our students can also prove their talent...Indian-Americans constitute less than 1% of the U.S. population (306 million) but account for 20% of the Intel Science Talent Search 2009 finalists.

Whether they will be patriotic to India or America is another issue to consider but we need to appreciate their marvallous efforts as they proved their mettle of Indian origin. CONGRATS!!!

Isnt it a Great Job done !!! Maybe we can get an Indian origin future US President too??!!

My first post in the new year 2009

Well, we invited the new year by having a small party at my home (only with my family) cutting the black forest cake,drinking the sparkling non alcohal grape juice,kissing each other and calling our parents for their wishes on the prosperity and happiness for the new year.

Happen to see some of the movies from wanted list (from my last blog)in the weekend...

A Wednsday(Hindi) - Excellent movie with the required twist and turns, ofcourse doing it is not right way but making it to feel as the correct action is the ability of the director.Great movie of the year.

Jaane Tu(Hindi) - Good entertainer but not like Dil chatta hai..its bit slow at times as you know the lead pair but since some new people inserted inbetween them makes us to wonder and see the movie interestingly...parents of the lead pair are realy funny!

silambattam (tamil) - This movie is defntly not in my list and I wished its not in the list of my worst enemy! But what to do...we did spent RM15 (Rs.210/-) for the DVD of 6 movies.Happen to see this movie just to kill time, but we didnt thought it will kill our time so badly...the worst acting and shameless copy cat style of Simbu is very popular for those watching his movies..we can say this movie is the peak in it..to join with Simbu is Yuuvan shankar raja who has out beaten Srikanth Deva in copying all the known tunes for this movie..the funny number is "Where is the party"

Boomalattam - Bharathiraja has retained with his director skill along with the new comers.. and proved that he can still direct some good movies besides the villages subject.Good thriller!!!

Thiruvanamalai - Arjun with Perarsu (the killing director of awkward punch diaglous and kuttu songs.Story of usual Vijay movie nothing new in this movie.

Yuuvraj - Hindi's bad version of Oscar winner english movie "Rain man"..the so called great Subhash Ghai has seen LOSS atlast! Salman khan's first time with subhash ghai has proved he is equaly bad like his director.

Rab na banadi Jodi - The fight for Love between the normal office going husband and the flittering jolly good fellow!The mix of comedy and sentiments...but at times SRK over acts!!!Soon we can see this movie in tamil version..

Want to see "Ghajini" "Yes Man" "Bed time story"...Jaane Tu, A Wednsday and read many books besides the IMG implementation manuals.

Yoga without chanting or mantra given the green light by PM

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Muslims who performed yoga without chanting any mantra can carry on with their activity as it was good for their health.

He urged all quarters to understand the content of the yoga fatwa issued by the National Fatwa Council and not twist facts and cause confusion among the public.

He said: "I wish to state that a physical regimen with no elements of worship can continue, meaning, it is not banned. I believe that Muslims are not easily swayed into polytheism," he told Bernama yesterday.

Abdullah was asked to comment on the yoga fatwa issue following the opposing views expressed by various quarters and the confusion that arose after the National Fatwa Council ruled that it was haram (forbidden) for Muslims to take up yoga as it involved chanting of mantra and acts of worship which are against Islamic teachings.

At the same time, the Prime Minister said, non-Muslims should not feel hurt or slighted by the announcement of the yoga fatwa as it was only applicable to Muslims.

I dont know how I missed it...as I use to take more photos from my balcony, I realy feel bad for missing such a great treat in the sky...

It was on 1st Dec, the planet Jupiter and Venus came to form the eyes and thats formed the cresent moon to smile...this occured and there was some photos taken to see this celestial treat.

Planetary conjunctions are relatively rare events, especially ones involving such a close encounter between Venus and Jupiter.

"They reach conjunction on average about once a year, although the time interval can range from 34 days to 412 days, and all but 23 percent of these are too close to the sun to observe," said Anthony Cook, astronomical observer at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.

The next conjunction between Jupiter and Venus is on February 16, 2010, when the pair is just over half a degree apart, or the size of one full moon.

Unfortunately that event will be too close to the blinding glare of the sun for us to see.

The next visible conjunction will be on the evening of March 14, 2012, but the two planets will appear farther apart in the sky, separated by more than three degrees

I am been frequently questioned about the safety in India by the people in malaysia, as why in India you always have these type of bomb blast, fighting, people die in temples, religious clash, there is no peace there in your place?!!! or the government is not taking stern action against this or its been too democratic to give severe punshiments?!!!

I am here to advocate my country by saying that this is been the attack for our growth, attack on our unity, attack on our democracy, attack on our Gandhian principles. We as a normal citizen of the country can only feel sad for these happening and expect that our government do something for this to make the people feel safe about their country, will learn from this to put an end to these type of attacks on us.

But I felt that the government has gone stronger compared to the last time the 1999 IC-814 hijack, India gave in to demands of Pakistani terrorists supported by Taliban. In return, India released three highly dangerous terrorists — Masood Azhar, who went on to create Jaish-e-Mohammed, Mushtaq Zargar and Omar Sheikh who is convicted of killing US journalist Daniel Pearl.

But this time, there was no negotiation, no compromise with the terrorist.After the PM's speech which conforms that Anti-terrorism will be the national plan.

Yoga been banned in malaysia for the muslims to practise, it has some mixed reactions !!! Quotes taken from leading newspaper and websites...

First, Yoga was banned for the reason said it could be traced back to Hinduism and concluded that yoga could erode the faith of Muslims.

"We are of the view that yoga, which originates from Hinduism, combines physical exercise, religious elements, chanting and worshipping for the purpose of achieving inner peace and ultimately to be one with god," Abdul Shukor said.

This ban has some mixed reactions too...Many Muslim cancer survivors who practise yoga to promote general wellbeing are disappointed and confused over the National Fatwa Council’s edict on the ancient form of exercise.

National Cancer Society of Malaysia’s advisor Datuk Zuraidah Atan said she had been inundated with calls from the survivors who were confused and apprehensive over the edict or fatwa.

“Besides yoga, we also have Qigong sessions. Is the Fatwa Council going to ban qi gong, too, because it has its origins in Buddhism? Then how about line dancing? We also organise that as a form of light exercise for cancer survivors,” she said

“An overreaching fatwa like this is not good for them as unnecessary worry can have a negative effect on them psychologically and physically. Some are already feeling guilty for practising it.

A top yoga practitioner in India, Mani Chaitanya, said the Malaysian clerics seem to have "misunderstood the whole thing." Chanting during yoga is to calm the mind and "elevate our consciousness," said Chaitanya, the director of the Sivananda Ashram in New Delhi.

"It is not worship. It's not religious at all. Yoga is universal. All religions can practice yoga. You can practice yoga and still be a good Christian or a good Muslim," he said

Seeing the moon from the earth is always a great pleasure,I personaly felt that living there is not...but what to do?!!!

There isnt a next best place to go other than that of that beautiful moon as of now...

I felt there isnt anything new there in the moon life! True that I have nobody there for me as they all left me in the earth itself...

What is the meaning of life? Live together and die alone?

Feeling of aloof and depression has groomed me to this journey of been an astronaut.

My Mineralogy Mapper,Radition moniter are all set for me as I just need to take off and now I am waiting for those VVVIPs

Executive jets where there in the air above my head! Much noise had been taken by the filters and generated a slick sound of break in the air..it was my favourite! Like that of the smell of petrol.

VVVIPs with their families now like a bunch of astronauts! helped by the military to enter into the ship, there isnt anybody like us to ask "Have you switched off the gas??!"

I switched the radar and started functioning my ship, I welcomed my passengers, gave instructions, precautions, wished them all a happy journey to a new hope!

I gave a detailed precautions and warning messages...It wasnt that simple like that of the airbus where they give the paper bag incase you need to vomit.This was totaly a high tech seating arrangements with enough oxygen and floating space...I also warned them that during the sleep your eyelids will be opened so if you happen to see your family members sleeping with theur eyes open dont be afarid of it...we are going to loose gravity.

I was all set to go when we all heard a loud blast in the air...

It could have been a plot to stop my ship to the moon, the people left here are protesting against the political people leaving their mother earth and going to another planet for safety and security just because they are the first citizen...

But I was wrong, I wouldnt have of though of my fellow citizen like this.

I did checked in the radar of the blast...it was from my origin...from the moon itself

I cant tell you guys how pleased to be back to this earth again, sad that I need to leave asap.

I am here to take all the first citizens of the earth in the last ship to moon, it is the first ship of VVVIPs to moon due to lots of reasons which cant be explained in simple terms so leaving that part without squashing your brains!

This rush had it own systematic slow pace in it...in the way of packing and practising the new way of life there....

Only now I came to know that this earth was remained with few people and with that very few VVVIPs...it made my job easy!!!

All the preparation are done in upmost secretive manner as this news of leaving the few in the earth itself will mend them to act against the take off...thinking of my sweethearts...now I realised the meaning and magic of the PV's phrases...how great they are

This shows how the malay people adore the bollywood stars and the indian movies.I have personaly witnessed it.When we go to any new hindi movie you can defntly see many malay people there...as here in malaysia all the Indian movies are with English,malay & chinese subtitles...Malays love bollywood movies (ofcourse with subtitles) they watch Zee TV,go to threate to see latest hindi movies, sing hindi songs, in their FM radios they have a seperate timing for bolloywood songs, most of the malay magazines have our Indian stars to decorate their pages.

They like the richness,mascular heros, pretty heroines and the dances in Hindi movies !!! Here in all the leading fittness centres I was surprised to see coaching classes for "Bollywood Dance" listed like "Yoga" and "Mediation" they categories the dancing moves as peacock style, hip movements...etc

Kollywood - Tamil movies too have a great viewers here...the latest blockbuster "Sivaji- the Boss" was a great success with an overwhelming collection records, at one time MGR was liked by Malays now its Rajini and Kamal...One malay friend told me that most of the Hindi movies have richness and fantasy, where as tamil movies are with good stories and near to reality!!!

"Drona" we went to see this hindi movie on 8.10.2008 in Cap Square at 8.45PM

The movie starts exactly like "Harry Potter" excellent location, the richness in camera, background sound, instead of the letters that reaches Harry Potter, it is blue coloured rose petals?!!! Blue coloured rose petal...woh what a imagination...Hats off Goldie Bhel

What would have happened to Harry Potter movie when there are 16 songs in it? The effects of that you can wittness in "Drona" one song when he realise he is alone and one song when he gets his power, one song when he sees his parents....I was half asleep by the end of the movie, shocked when my wife shaked me to wake up...only to say "No I was just seeing the movie by closing the eyes!"

Drona is about an orphan Aditya (Abhishek Bachchan), who has never experienced or felt love. The only thing that gives Aditya comfort is a magical blue rose petal that comes wafting into his room, making him smile through his tears. One fine day, the blue petal leads him to a beautiful Kada (a thick bangle like bracelet), which he starts wearing around his wrist. The Evil Riz Raizada (Kay Kay Menon) a descendant of the Asuras (Demons) has become by now desperate in his quest for the special ‘Amrith’, the only missing link in his grand plan of taking over the world. To get to the Amrith, he knows he will have to defeat Drona. But Riz is unaware of who and where Drona is!

Kay Kay’s character is more clownish than devilish.

Coming to the songs, which have no significance in the movie, are unbearable. The only thing that stands out in Drona is the brilliant special effects, which are way ahead of Bollywood standards.

Performances are poor. Abhishek Bachchan is no Hrithik Roshan or Akshay Kumar, although he tries hard in the action sequences, his body language or physique just doesn’t suit the role of a superhero with unprecedented physical power.

Now I have another reason to hate Goldie Behl-the Director of this movie, besides he has married Actress Sonali Bendre.

I am a great fan of Art movies, especialy from Sathyajith Ray, Shyam benegal, Adoorgopala krishnan(bit slow)...thanks to Doordarshan sunday afternoon movies which I never use to miss during my teenage...I dont know how I developed such a taste for art movies been a stanch fan of Super star Rajnikanth...but I know to categories, what to expect from the director..though some of the art movies are too slow but there was something I liked in all of them, it was from here my taste for good movie was groomed!

Sathyajith Ray, the only indian (or asian??!) to win a Oscar.His movies like Pather Panchali,Appu triology,Charulata,Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne...which I enjoyed watching them because of the Camera,editing,music,dialogues(sub-title)...most of them are in Black & White, for all his movies the music been composed by him, besides directing!

Shyam Benegal was also have his style of narrating a story where you like the film even though you dont like the story...

To replace these great icons of Art movies now you have Ram Gopal Varma, but he is good in making only gangster sort of movie when it comes to horrow! Phoonk was too normal too...not like the effects or moves you see in "Satya" "Company"..if you guys have any new directors like this pl comment.

So I watched "The Last Lear" with great interest only to see our Big B in a big wig, and arjun rampal coming and going...Preity Zinta smoking...not giving the complete pleasure of watching a bengali story.I was quite disappointed.

Well the winner is the Gambling king Stanley Ho made asia to look for this sort of games too, besides Olympics!!...doesnt it nails out the fact that the western countries are lossing their big image with the asian countries?

I came to know about Macao, only after coming to malaysia, that too with the cost effective holiday packages to Macao by Air asia and some of my collegues(Chinese) have visited...Macao has joined with China from 1999, which was a porteguese colony.

The first,real casino I stepped in was in Oct'07 here in Kuala Lumpur called "Genting Highland" where I have seen the real gambling machines which I have seen in Pan Parg ad..Dev Anand movie..But here my knowledge has grown widely when my eyes struck to the old(above 50s) chinese ladies with a cigar in the corner of their mouth shouting for a win loudly! Before this like Swamy in RK.Narayanan's novel I thought that the Casino will only have well dressed men with young beautiful girls around him like that of Dev Anand movie but today I know what a Casino is!

Fire accident in Saravana stores!!!(Vessels) one of the most famous shopping landmark in chennai.Situated in the crowded narrow lane called Ranganathan Street
in T.Nagar(proved to be THEE NAGAR).,ie Thyagaraja Nagar..THEE means fire in tamil.

Saravanan stores has the same theme like Wal Mart in US..having the largest collection of Low cost home appliances under one roof.

This fire accident happened on the early morning on 1st september, killing two of its employees, damaging millions worth of goods, more than 63 lorries of water been poured to stop the fire and prevent it from spreading to the nearby shops.

We have a new pet in our home, its a Syrian or Golden Hamster.

"Mr.Kittu" we named him, is only one month old.He is active during dust and dawn,he has a very good living place for himself, with tasty(Green apple flavoured) food, water and wheel where is he busy running all the night, might have imagined that he is running from one desert to another desert, but in the end wonder why he is still seeing the same scenary?(shud I call our living room as scenary?!!!)

Its always good to have some pets at home.

I was having aquarium when I was in school, I was so happy to see them swiming and chasing each other, I had golden fish, guppies and fighter..the fighter is the one who killed the rest of all ! Cleaning the aquarium is big work, which I hated and asked my mother to do or my mother herself seeing the horrible condition of my aquarium would clean it up for me...so the next time I bought a small aquarium after my marriage..only two gold fish.I was able to save them for a quite a long time! But after coming to malasyia Mr.Kittu is the first pet.

I was there in Putrajaya International conventional centre(PICC) to see the Malaysian International Firework competition by team China,on saturday eveing the 16 August 2008.

This is the competition of fireworks from different countries as a promotion by the Minitry of tourism, malaysia.

Countries participating : Malaysia, China, Australia, Canada, Spain.

Right from 7Pm onwards there was more crowd to wittness the firework in the dark sky.Some just parked their cars and having makan(food)at the entrance, some took the free shuttle bus to PICC and stood at the entrance to see the show...its free!

But there are tickets to see this firework show from inside the beautiful PICC building which has chairs to sit and watch the show...but the cost was RM63/- for adults which is roughtly around Rs.800/-

The show started at 10PM instead of the scheduled time 9.30PM which made us to wait for another long time. Its a 30mts shows by team China-Liuyang QingcaoFireworks Manufacturing Co Ltd

The Theme is "THE STORY OF COWHERD AND WEAVER GIRL", its a fairy tale of how the "Milky Way" was formed, which had a romantic story of Niu Land and Zhi Nu as the fireworks’ background had the chinese traditional music.

My efforts to capture it in the form of viedo made my batteries weak!So very few photos, moreover there where professional photographers with long tripod ready with their eyes fixed in the views for a long time/ some where remotely controlling their cameras!!!giving ametures like me less chance/place to take photos...anyway managed to catch some shots check out in my photoblog!!!

Beautiful colours!Automatic lauching of the fireworks continues to blaze our eyes with a theme that tells about the love story was all good.

But missed our expectations as we wanted it to be more delighted..big..with some images/some words in the sky...more colourful then that of what we use to see it in the New Year Eve or for marriage or for the Perumal temple festival!

Moreover last year itself we have seen more such fireworks from the "Eye of Malaysia" promotion directly from my condo balcony!!!

That's why the Games are opening that day and, the Olympic Games aren't the only thing that is scheduled to begin Friday. More than 16,400 couples will also be starting their married life together that day!!!

When my Handphone (Mobile) number had more 8 in it...all my chinese friends wondered when I said its not intentional,I gave them different view about number 8 in India, saying it has too many bends Ups and down...for them 4 is unlucky number, happen to see some chinese building not having 4th floor instead there will be 3A!!!its all the perception!!!

Here in malaysia, Astro cable relaying the inaugration ceremony live tomorrow at 8PM.
The time zone for china and malaysia is same.US President G Bush is also going to be there at the function.All the malaysians are expecting their national game should be the medal winner!

Lets hope Indian manage to get some medals!!!

After been very hot for many days, now its raining here...the rain and the shine always had magic on me...ofcourse not like shreya/trisha in "Mallai/Varsham" movies to throw away their dress to rain and dance...my liking of rain is more poetic than that, its more like sitting in the corner of the window and watching the silver dots of rains, to smell it, the see the wet roads, greenary,the movements of the trees to the rain and the winds... the coolness it brings...the freshness to inherit..to my surprise I have also written a poem and posted it in the http://www.poetry.com/ long years back..for which I got letter from them asking me to publish !!!

I gave my blood

Just in the whisk of the weekend shopping spree we where invited to donate blood, I am of that type who jumps from the place the moment I heard the word "Injection" but never been donated blood so far and been tempted by my whole hearted use of my blood to anybody who needs it badly, made me to take the decision of giving my blood...

There was a long queque for it, and there where stages to proceed, first registration where they asked some interesting questions like "Are you mentaly affected?" "Have undergone sex transformation? followed by checking the weight...then the crutical stage of taking blood sample, I felt very strong by holding my wife's hand tightly and shouting for punching the needle to my finger tips for blood, I became famous as all looked at me strangly!!! Now to the different set of questions "Have recently visited any europian country?' then asking my wife to go to her place...asked "whether you have sex with strangers/prostitute.......finaly to the seat where my wife and I sat close to each other to allow the syringe to suck our blood...

I often feel that the promotions to give blood had no effect, but I realy found out that those blood donation advertisements has given more confidence of donating the blood.Planned to regularly donate my blood hereafter...

The taste of Red Bull

Red Bull - has different taste from the one thats avaiable in India and the one in malaysia.

Red Bull was popularised for me in 2006 during the bowling competition in Snow Bowling,Nungambakkam, as non-alcoholic engery drink...where the young boys and girls carried their bags like kangaroo and distributed the cool can for free as a part of promotion...It had the smell of apple juice or say cranberries...hmm.. and the taste was so unique, different..& good...it was quite tough to drink it at one gulp.
Which was a small competition we had besides the bowling !!!

But the same brand Red Bull here in malaysia has the different taste, the smell ofcourse like the apple juice/cranberries but its so sweeeeety and you can drink it at one gulp??!!!

Couldnt figure out why this difference is....maybe not the same flavour or is it because the product of Thailand..whereas the one I tasted in India is the product of Austria/Saudi (not sure) but definitely not the product of Thailand.

While India has made great strides in bringing down its HIV infection rate, the promiscuity among "call center Romeos" is a great concern, Dr.Suniti Solomon, who detected the first HIV case in India in 1986, told an international medical conference.

Review:

The movie starts with the introduction by Kamal about an incident taking place in 12th century during the rule of the Chozha dynasty when Hindus were divided into Saivites and Vaishnavites. Rangarajan Nambi (Kamal No.1) is a loyal disciple of Ramanuja Azhwar. King Kulothunga (Napolean - looks perfect with his role, shud have inspired the historic movie makers)

After this meaningless first avatar, the movie shifts to the present scientific world. Govind (Kamal No.2), an American scientist invents a dangerous bio weapon in his lab but wants to destroy the same after realizing its dangerous consequences.
(There isnt any great set for the scientist lab expect the walker)But the US Govt and scientists don't allow him to do that. One fine day, Govind runs away from the lab with the bio weapon but Fletcher (Kamal No.3), a former CIA officer turned villian, chases him to get the weapon back to destroy other countries.

The weapon is mistakenly sent to an Indian address by courier where a 95 year old lady (Kamal No.4) receives the parcel. Govind immediately rushes to India and traces down the address. He is followed by Fletcher who is accompanied by his prostitute cum translator (Mallika Sherawat). The old lady refuses to give the weapon to them without understanding the danger it could cause and puts it inside a statue of Lord Vishnu.

The scientist captures the statue and starts running with it pulling Asin close relative of the old lady, along with him. Fletcher chases him till the end of the film.

RAW's regional head officer Balram Naidu (Kamal No.5) too is in the race always chasing both these characters...this character makes us to laugh a little bit with his telugu and tamil mix...

With all this a Punjabi singer (Kamal No.6) dont know why he is talking tamil/thanking tamil people, is it because of this been a tamil movie?

US President George Bush ( Kamal No.7)the funniest make up of all..I guess some of the kinder garden school children will do it better, a tall Muslim ( Kamal No.8), a martial arts trainer ( Avatar No.9) and a Southern district resident Annachi( Kamal No.10) comes, does something and disappears.

The most needed NaCl to destroy the weapon comes in the form of the tsunamias a rescue to the Scientist and destroys the weapon along with drowning Fletcher .Lord Rangaraja statue which was immersed in the sea in 12th century also appears on the shore after the tsunami

What is the need/necessity for portraying Kamal in 10 different make-ups? To create some mindless hype or register it as a record in the Industry? Highly idiotic!

The roles of Punjabi Singer, Muslim tall man Kalifullah Khan, Annachi and Japanese martial arts trainer unnecessarily intervene in the flow of so called story.

Why this much of delay/hype for an average movie like this...

Though Kamal has made a great effort with different make ups/characters for his age but sad to say that once again Kamal has given a flop!!!

This time my elder daughter’s birthday party was with her school friends who are having one month holiday, that’s the reason most of them have gone to India, and few have attended the party..the best thing about this year is that it didn’t rained so badly making all the guest to stay late till 2 PM mid-night and making KL city to sink, making our condo motor repair...like that of LAST YEAR!!!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary in One Uttam shopping mall, Lunch at Sangeetha, Sarkar Raj at Cap Square,then to Mariamman temple & Kottu malai Vinayagar temple, this is the first time after coming to Malaysia,we both where together for the whole day without our kids/parents/friends...Woh We realy ENJOYED!!!

About the movie Sarkar Raj we didnt planned to go to "Sarkar Raj" as we where updated by our Bangladeshi friends..who complained about the movie as they didnt liked Tanisha Mukherjee & Abhishek Bachchan's death..maybe they would have expected a dance sequence and a long song where all the bollywood stars would appear for 2 mts and dance with Nagres family...

I wont expect that from Ram Gopal Varma, moreover TPI's blog have updated me..if you're the type of person who liked Sarkar movie then part-2 is worth watching and that was right(TQ - Arshat chaudhary).This is the movie about development of Maharastra,which is important for India today, hightlights the point firmly that development can seem to destroy people’s lives but something needs to give if one has to look at long-term benefits.

Realy enjoyed the movie as it has something related to this type of plot(power plant in the movie) and the beautiful twist and turns played by the struggling Neta's,businessmen,silent leaders,It was a realy a movie of class, which we liked,talked about the plot,talked about the actors endlessly even after one day, the looming close-ups, the doom-laden score (loud!!!)and the near monochromatic frames,the dialogues (Killing is crime, killing at the right time is politics)...even the ending also hints about the part-3Amitab,Abishek & Ash all have done their parts very well..its realy nice to see such a good film.

Man gets nod from wives and court to marry No 4....thats Malaysia for you!!!

KUALA TERENGGANU: A property negotiator has received the blessings of his three wives to wed his newfound sweetheart who is 30 years younger than him.

The Syariah High Court approved the application of Abu Bakar Embong, 54, after it found that the father of 25 had met all the prerequisites under Islamic law to take a fourth wife.

Judge Shaikh Ahmad Ismail granted Abu Bakar, who also has three grandchildren, permission to take Suhaili Alias, 25, as his wife.

Shaikh Ahmad advised Abu Bakar to be fair to all his wives, tend to the religious needs of his children, and take his three wives on a pilgrimage to Mecca.

Abu Bakar had fathered 11 boys and 14 girls from his three marriages, with the youngest being four months old and the eldest 25 years old.

“The court had considered the affidavit submitted by Abu Bakar, where he stated that he earned RM20,000 a month and had provided houses and cars for each of his wives,” the judge added.

“Therefore, with consent from his wives, the court allows Abu Bakar to marry a fourth wife.”

His three wives – Asnah Jusoh, 46, Mazumi Ismail, 45, and Norazlina Ariffin, 25, – all from Kampung Telok Manir here, also told the court that they had no qualms about their husband marrying another.

The wives later told reporters that their husband was a loving, fair and responsible man and they had arranged for him to marry Suhaili, who is unemployed. When met, Abu Bakar said there was no secret to keeping all his wives happy, but he believed in treating them equally.

“As long as I can afford another wife and am strong, I don’t see why I can’t marry,” added Abu Bakar, who married his first wife at the age of 19.

Recently, the same court had deferred its decision on an application by lorry driver Mohamed Nor Awang, 57, to marry for the fourth time. It was not convinced he could financially support another wife.

Mohamed had already obtained the nod from his three wives to marry clerk Suzi Sulong, 34.

Religious tolerance

I am not a religious man!!!

But by birth I am a Hindu, when someone talks bad about my religion it hurts me, at the same time when somebody forces about other religion and indirectly convinces me to convert my religion, I feel defensive...I am of that type who belives in humanity than that of religions, moreso I would like to say there should be no religion in the whole world...how nice it would be...No Christians converting the poor backward people..no islamic wars in the name of religion...no sethu samuthiram issue...No issue for Dhasavatharam movie"

After thinking...its also not good to be without religion, because religion teaches the value for perfect,Obedient,respectful, it will make people to follow the rules..in this jungle of society..if not Might will be right...like the law of the jungle.

My conclusion is the need for Religious tolerance, people should accept other people's religion...I mean no forcing convertions, we all should see the difference and should practise to live with it...

I realy appreciate when something like that happens...

The one good news is that Britain to get first Hindu school

Britain’s first state-funded Hindu school was founded in Horrow, North London, with chanting of Vedic hymns and a Bhoomi Puja, the traditional foundation laying ceremony today.

There are 6,850 faith schools in Britain -- about a third of all state schools. The large majority is Christian. There are 37 Jewish, seven Muslim, two Sikh, one each of Green Orthodox and Seventh Day Adventist schools. These schools have a total of 1.7 million pupils.

The patron of the school is the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

Pupils at Krishna-Avanti Primary School, which will open its doors to the first reception class in September, will have dedicated yoga and Sanskrit lessons and will grow vegetables, in line with the strict vegetarian principles of the school.

There had been no Hindu state school until now because the community was not ready to take on the responsibility, Nitesh Gor, chairman of governors of the school told newsmen.

"It has taken the Hindu community the last few decades to establish its roots in this country. There has been no focus on education yet because the school system is a strict statutory regime and only now are we coming up to that level of expertise to say 'we can deliver this'," he said.

The series of Indian Jones was always my favorite movies and this time I was little bit suspecious about

1)Harrison ford as he is no longer a leading man in action/adverture movies and also he is very old
2)Stephen Speilberg as he would have been exhausted with his ideas and clever movie making as we see in our Indian cinema the slow down of Maniratnam,Ram Gopal Verma..etc

But I was proved wrong by the superb performance by Harrison Ford, he is not that old as I assumed him to be, he did gave the complete satisfaction as the president of America in Airforce One

The brilliance of Direction by Stephen Speilberg - starts from the first scene, studuios boy asking doubt in the library, the ant killing, the russian ascent, three drops!!!his way of making the action scenes, the fast pace, clever witty, interesting move making.He has proved his class.

A chapter on Rajni in CBSE textbook

A chapter on Rajnikant's life has been added to Std VI English course book of CBSE. The book has been published by Oxford University Press. The chapter is under the section: Dignity of Work.

His life from a bus conductor to a megastar has been briefly described in the chapter. The book also includes excerpts from his friend Bahadur, who was a bus driver. In 1970s Rajni, a bus conductor, and Bahadur, a bus driver, were good friends.

The friendship was cemented further, when the two would unwind themselves by watching films and plays together during their off-duty hours. Young Shivaji aka Rajni would sometimes also act in plays staged at the Gubbi Veeranna Ranga Mandira in the city. When Bahadur saw his friend on stage, he realised that the young man has great acting potential. The overwhelming response from the audience, particularly, when he played Duryodhana and Yechhama Nayaka, the Kannada Warrior, strengthen his belief. "It was then that I was convinced that he should act in movies," Bahadur said.

When the Adyar Film Institute was set up in Chennai around the same time, Bahadur suggested to Shivaji aka Rajni that he should pursue a course in acting at the Institute. The young man was obviously reluctant to give up his conductor's job and do the course since he was worried about his finances.

Who will ever give up a government job? Rajni has asked. And Bahadur responded, "Give up the job. I'll look after all your needs." Bahadur kept up his promise. For two years, from 1974 to 1976, he gave a significant part of his salary to Shivaji and ensured that he completed the course at the Film Institute. When the course was over, the famous director K. Balachander, signed up the young actor for his new Tamil film. And the rest is history.

Rajni's real journey from a bus conductor to the highest-paid actor of the country resembles a story of a successful film. Rajni's life had many twists and turns but never downs.
His recent super-hit movie 'Sivaji' has catapulted him from the status of megastar to demy god and also paved way for his pan-India fame.

In the beginning of this year, he received NDTV's Best Indian of the Year Award for 2007 from the prime minister and then his biography 'My Name Is Rajnikanth' hit the market and now it's a chapter on him in text books. Year 2008 has given him more reasons to cheer!
